This article covers the process to configure the Pendo Launcher extension to retrieve Visitor ID from Microsoft Azure, which involves:

  1. Creating and configuring a new application in Microsoft Entra.
  2. Configuring the application and adding redirect URLs.
  3. Send Pendo Application (client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID.

Step 1. Create an application in Microsoft Entra

  1. In Microsoft Azure, open Microsoft Entra ID under Azure Services.

  2. Open App registrations from the left-side menu.
  3. Select + New registration at the top of the page.

  4. On the Register an application page, give the application a meaningful name, such as “Pendo Launcher” or “Pendo Extension.”
  5. Under Supported account types, we recommend choosing Accounts in the organizational directory only (Default Directory only – Single tenant).

Step 2. Configure the app and add redirect URLs

In your newly created application in Microsoft Azure:

  1. Open Authentication from the left-side menu.
  2. Select Add URI and then add the redirect URIs for each of the browsers you plan to use:
  3. Under Implicit grant and hybrid flows, ensure that both Access tokens (used for implicit flows) and ID tokens (used for implicit and hybrid flows) are selected.

  4. Open API permissions from the left-side menu.
  5. In Configured permissions, check that User.Read is present under Microsoft Graph in the API / Permissions column. If it isn't, select + Add a permission, then search for and add the permission permission.

  6. Select Grant admin consent for Default Directory. This opens a confirmation window.

  7. Select Yes to confirm that you want to grant admin consent.
  8. Open Authentication from the left-side menu.

Step 3. Send client and tenant IDs to Pendo

After the Azure application is created, Pendo needs you to send the Application (client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID to complete the configuration.

  1. From your application in Microsoft Azure, open Overview from the left-side menu.
  2. Copy the values for the Application (client) ID and the Directory (tenant) ID.
  3. Send this to Pendo either through your Pendo representative or to Support.

Your Pendo subscription is now configured to interact with Microsoft Azure using the provided Visitor IDs.
