This article provides instructions for a Salesforce Toolkit Administrator to configure the Page Data LWC and place it in record page. This allows you to share objects and fields in Salesforce with Pendo to use for guide targeting and analytics reports.

The functionality described in this article requires the Salesforce Pendo One Toolkit (herein, Salesforce toolkit). For information, see The Pendo One Toolkit for Salesforce.

Prerequisites

Step 1. Plan your approach

Define which Salesforce objects and fields you want to share with Pendo and enable the toolkit's functionality. Define the following information for each Salesforce object:

  • Field names.
  • For each field, whether it’s to be used for guide targeting.
  • For each field, whether it’s to be used for analytics in Pendo.

Step 2. Configure Salesforce fields

Pendo Toolkit Administrators have access to the Pendo Data Configuration page, where you configure which fields from different Salesforce objects are sent to Pendo.

  1. Open the App Launcher from the grid icon in the top left of Salesforce.
  2. Search for and open Pendo Data Configuration.
  3. Search for and select a Salesforce object from the dropdown menu (such as Account or Opportunity). This is the object that you want to configure to share with Pendo. A list of available fields for your selected object appears.
  4. Select the fields that you want to send to Pendo. If the object has any lookup relationships, you can expand the list to select fields from the related objects.
  5. Select one or both of the two options for each selected field:
    • Select Data Attribute for fields to be used to target guides.
    • Select Visitor Metadata for fields to be used in analytics.
  6. Select Save.

Step 3. Add the Page Data LWC to record pages

To add the Page Data LWC to a record page in Salesforce:

  1. Open a record page in Salesforce, such as an Account, Opportunity, or Contact.
  2. Select the gear icon in the top right and select Edit Page. This opens the Lightning App Builder.
  3. In the component list on the left side of the page, find Pendo Page Data.
  4. Drag and drop the Pendo Page Data component to an appropriate location in the record page. This can only be seen by Pendo Toolkit Administrators. For more information about this permission set, see The Pendo One Toolkit for Salesforce.
  5. Select Save.
