This article provides instructions for setting up the Pendo One Toolkit for Salesforce (herein, Salesforce toolkit). Before continuing, we recommend that you read the overview article for this feature: The Pendo One Toolkit for Salesforce.

Prerequisites

To set up the Salesforce toolkit for Pendo, you must:

Step 1. Install the toolkit

Open the installation link provided by your Pendo account or technical contact and select an installation option: Install for All Users or Install for Admins Only.

We recommend choosing Install for All Users so that you can implement the toolkit’s functionality for all users in your organization without configuring additional permissions. If you select Install for All Users, nothing changes for your users until you set up and publicly release guides in Pendo. You can control who sees what guides from the guide configuration and publishing process.

Choose Install for Admins Only if you want to manually assign your end-user permissions with Permission Set Groups or other custom permissions management in Salesforce. For information about the Pendo Toolkit User permission set, see Permission set assignment in this article.

Step 2. Assign the Pendo Toolkit Administrator permission set

Assign the Pendo Toolkit Administrator permission set to the admin users who must configure the Pendo Toolkit components.

  1. In Salesforce, go to Setup.
  2. In the Quick Find box, search for and open Permission Sets.
  3. Find and select the Pendo Toolkit Administrator permission set. For information about this user type, see Permission sets in The Pendo One Toolkit for Salesforce overview article.
  4. In the permission set view, select Manage Assignments.
  5. Select Add Assignments.
  6. Select the users you want to add to the permission set.
  7. Select Assign to complete the process.

Step 3. Assign the Pendo Toolkit User permission set (optional)

If you chose Install for All Users, you don’t need to manually assign the Pendo Toolkit User permission set.

If you chose Install for Admins Only, you must assign the Pendo Toolkit User permission set as part of Permission Set Groups or direct assignment to users according to your org permissions management approach.
