Overview
The Goals widget surfaces usage goals on the dashboard where they can be tracked and shared with your other product analytics. Goals are timebound or ongoing objectives for product usage that you can use to define and measure success for product adoption and engagement. Goals use feature clicks, page views, or track events and a usage target to measure the expected level of usage and track towards goal attainment. Ongoing goals use a recurring benchmark and track if usage is above or below the target over time. Timebound goals set a usage target and a date range and track towards hitting that target in the time frame. Ongoing goals are useful for tracking sustained adoption and retention trends over time. Timebound goals track initial adoption or the outcomes of campaigns aiming to increase usage in a specified time period.

Create an ongoing goal
1. Select the goal target. It can be a page, feature, or track event. Core events are listed first. All tagged pages, features, and track events across all apps in the subscription are available as targets. Elements are grouped by Core, Pages, Features, and Track Events in the dropdown list.
2. Select the frequency and duration. Usage metrics can be tallied in daily, weekly or monthly increments which will impact the size of the usage target.
3. Set the metric to measure as the usage target. Options are the total number of pages views, feature clicks, or track events, number of unique visitors, or number of unique accounts.
4. Set the goal target usage value. This number is tracked as the benchmark for goal attainment on visualizations. The average value for the last 90 days is added as the baseline. A suggested target 10% higher than baseline is suggested automatically.
5. Select goal segment. Only data from these visitors is used to measure goal progress. Existing segments are available in the dropdown menu.
