Is there a way users can get around being tracked by Pendo

I have a button in my app that feeds directly into another page; both the button (feature) and the page it directly opens are tracked. Im seeing about 20% less clicks than we have unique visits to the immediate next page - how can that be? 

Is there a way users could be missed? Would using a VPN for example cause Pendo to be unable to track an unauthed user on a button click?
