Show/Hide buttons for users based on metadata passed to Pendo

I am looking at ways to bring my CEO's vision for Pendo to life, but it will require some code, I think. Basically I have a guide that is launched by a badge. The guide has various buttons on it that will launch other guides. I want to be able to show or hide these buttons based on permissions that are passed to Pendo at the user level.

For example, if the user has the "edit.schedules" permission passed with their metadata, show the buttons pertaining to editing schedules in this guide. Otherwise, hide the buttons.

Ideas?

  • Hey Jim Rehmann,

The simplest way to do this without custom code is to create multiple versions of the guide. For example, guide 1 has 2 buttons, guide 2 has 3 buttons, etc. Then you can create a custom segment for each of the guides with the metadata values you've described.

There is likely a solution that could be built with custom code, but it would require engineering resources on your end or connecting with Pendo professional services for custom services.
