Measuring two successful features within a Funnel
Hello,
Is there a way to include two features that would equate to "success" in one funnel - similar to an "OR" condition? We’re counting an activity as successful if a user clicks on one of two options ‘Run Report’ or ‘Create Scheduled Report’ on the same page. Would adding both as features in the Funnel report work in this instance even though these steps are not necessarily a flow? Trying to avoid having to create two different Funnels to dig into the analysis.
Any suggestions?

If the two features are at the same step within the Funnel (i.e. either would be the 2nd action a Visitor is expected to take) then I would recommend creating a single Feature tag that has rules that encompass both steps you're looking to track and use that aggregated Feature as your Funnel step. That's about as close as I think we could get to an 'OR' gate on a Funnel with today's functionality.
Funnels are very prescriptive and are therefore not conducive to creating OR logic between steps natively. Not only that, the expectation is that each step is touched upon within the Funnel. So if you were to add both Features as intermediary steps within your Funnel, Pendo would be expecting the user to click one and then click the other before progressing to any further steps within the Funnel.
I hope this helps!
Thanks Greg Nutt! I hadn't thought about creating a single Feature tag for both. I'll present that as an option but I would imagine that this would pose an issue if they do want to track them separately for different reporting and analysis, correct?
Correct, I imagined adding both features wouldn't work as a funnel has to be linear. Thinking out loud, would maybe a Path beginning on that page where both features exist be another option? Wouldn't solve for an "exact" workflow, but would account for both features. Let me know your thoughts :)
You are correct that combining both features into a single tag will pose a bit of a hurdle why trying to analyze which users go through which path on a funnel. It's a bit labor intensive, but I'd imagine you could do some math on two separate funnels to get you the number of users through both (# Visitors in Funnel "ALL" - # Visitors in Funnel "1" = # Visitors in Funnel "2"). But at that point, why not just track both in separate funnels in the first place!
You could use Paths to see which feature click got Visitors to the end state, but there's a lot of other information that might come through that as well. However, if your "Leading To..." feature is ONLY reachable through one of two options, that could be an interesting view. Might be worth the combination of the two reports - the Funnel to give you the total number of Visitors to pass through and a short Path to give you a rough distribution of which feature was used by which Visitors. But again, if you're starting to look at two reports, you might be back at the starting point of 'might as well just build two Funnels'.
