localization, cdata in xliff
We've received an xliff file to translate which was generated from Pendo, and I've noticed that all the source text is wrapped in CDATA tags, like this:
<source><![CDATA[Welcome!]]></source>
Is there a reason for this, and is it possible to prevent it happening? I can see the article mentioning that video links need them, but why all the text?

Actually, I have another query on xliffs. Each transunit exports with a note. Do these need to be preserved in order for the xliff to be imported back correctly?
