How to Filter Sessions (or add as a step in funnel) by Whether a Specific Section is Visible?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for guidance on a scenario where our landing page has a special “action cards” section that only appears under certain conditions (like an active event). Once the event ends, that section disappears.

For our funnel analysis, we want to:

1. Track users who visit the landing page (Step 1)
2. Track those who click on the “action cards” (Step 2)

However, if the “action cards” section isn’t visible, it skews our data. Ideally, we’d only include sessions in Step 1 where the section was actually present and shown to the user.

Question: Has anyone set up a funnel or event in Pendo to filter or segment sessions based on whether a particular element (like these “action cards”) is visible? Any advice, steps, or best practices on how to achieve this would be much appreciated.
