Understanding Path Report data

I have had nagging questions about Path reports I can't seem to get a solid answer on from my own troubleshooting and reading documentation.

Imagine a Path report that starts from page_A, and a user journey after that page is: page_A, page_B, page_A with no apparent actions taken after that. The first column says page_A has 100k views, and the second occurrence of page_A (which would show in the third column) shows 10k views. There is no 'no next step' indication after the page_A in column 3.

  1. Can I assume after the third column with the second visit to page_A (10k view), that the user took no further actions? Without the 'no next step' indication, I've been unclear if the user dropped off or if their subsequent actions are represented by looking back at  the original "leading from" column.
  2. Related to question 1: Would the 100k views of page_A in the first column INCLUDE the 10k views of page_A in the 3rd column since it's the same page? I do not think this can possibly be the case as I feel it would make this report really difficult to make sense of but I need to confirm this.

  • 1. Yes I am fairly certain. You could always go look at a specific visitor's timeline to verify this a few times.

    2. No they are separate :)
