App health gives you a portfolio-level view of how all your apps are performing in one place. Instead of analyzing apps one by one, you can compare key metrics side by side and identify which apps are growing, stalling, or need attention.
Use cases
Use app health to:
- See all apps in your subscription in a single table.
- Compare adoption and engagement across apps with consistent metrics.
- Spot top movers and outliers without building custom dashboards.
- Filter by segment, metadata, and date range to focus on specific audiences.
- Compare performance across segments or metadata values to see which audiences influence your key metrics.
- Share a view of app performance with other users in your subscription.
App health is designed for portfolio-level comparison across your portfolio. For a detailed analysis of a single app, use Pages, Features, funnels, and other reports in Analytics.
Understand app health
To access the App health page, go to Product > Apps from the left-side menu.
App health contains three main areas:
- Filters. Controls what data populates on the rest of the page.
- Engagement metrics. Highlights aggregate metrics across all filtered apps.
- Applications table. Lists all apps and their key metrics in a single view.
Filters
App health uses page-specific filters. The first time you visit, the page starts with your current global filter selections. Changes you make here persist for you on this page and don't change the global filters used elsewhere in Pendo. Use the filter bar to adjust the scope:
- Segment. Filter by an existing segment, such as "Active customers" or "Trial users," to compare app performance for a specific group.
- Date range. Change the reporting window, such as Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or a custom range. All metrics on the page update to match, and trend percentages compare to the previous matching period.
- Account. Filter the page by a specific account.
- App. Filter the page to a specific app or view all apps. Use the Status filter to select one or more app statuses and focus the page on relevant apps. Use the Status filter to select one or more app statuses and focus the page on relevant apps.
- Metadata filters. Select + Add metadata filter to filter by visitor-level or account-level attributes, such as role, region, plan, or customer tier, including historical metadata and event properties.
- Comparison filters. Compare metrics across multiple segments or metadata values. For more information, see Compare apps by segment or metadata below.
Filters apply to both the Engagement metrics section and the Applications table. Historical metadata and custom event property filters or comparisons aren't supported by stickiness metrics. If one of these is active, stickiness metrics are unavailable until you remove it. New visitor and new account metrics don't support anonymous-only segments. If you select an anonymous-only segment as the page filter, both metrics are unavailable. In a segment comparison, only the anonymous-only comparison rows are unavailable.
Overview metrics
The Overview metrics section provides an aggregate view of key metrics across all your filtered apps during the selected date range. Use this section to monitor overall performance shifts.
Metrics shown include:
If no survey is linked for NPS, PMF, UX-Lite, or CSAT, the metric tile shows that no survey is linked. Select Connect a survey from the tile to open the survey configuration.

- UX-Lite. The UX-Lite score from UX-Lite surveys linked to the filtered apps for the selected date range. This metric is available when at least one app has a linked UX-Lite survey. Select the metric to view score trends over time.
- CSAT. The CSAT score from CSAT surveys linked to the filtered apps for the selected date range. This metric is available when at least one app has a linked CSAT survey. Select the metric to view score trends over time.
- Visitor retention. The percentage of identified visitors who returned to the app in a subsequent period. Hover over the metric to view the specific cohort period. Anonymous visitors aren't included in retention metrics.
- Account retention. The percentage of identified accounts that returned to the app in a subsequent period. Hover over the metric to view the specific cohort period. Anonymous visitors aren't included in retention metrics.
- New visitor retention. The percentage of first-time identified visitors who returned to your app in a subsequent period. Hover over the metric to view the specific cohort period. Anonymous visitors aren't included in retention metrics.
- New account retention. The percentage of first-time identified accounts that returned to your app in a subsequent period. Hover over the metric to view the specific cohort period. Anonymous visitors aren't included in retention metrics.
- Rage clicks. The number of times visitors repeatedly clicked in a focused area of the UI within a short timeframe during the selected date range.
- Dead clicks. The number of clicks that had no visible effect in the application UI during the selected date range.
- Error clicks. The number of clicks that generated a client-side JavaScript error within 100 milliseconds during the selected date range.
- U-turns. The number of times visitors navigated to a Page and returned to the previous Page within seven seconds during the selected date range.
- Visitor stickiness, average DAU to MAU. The average percentage of monthly active visitors (MAU) who were active on a given day (DAU).
- Visitor stickiness, average DAU to WAU. The average percentage of weekly active visitors (WAU) who were active on a given day (DAU).
- Visitor stickiness, average WAU to MAU. The average percentage of monthly active visitors (MAU) who were active in a given week (WAU).
- Account stickiness, average DAA to MAA. The average percentage of monthly active accounts (MAA) that were active on a given day (DAA).
- Account stickiness, average DAA to WAA. The average percentage of weekly active accounts (WAA) that were active on a given day (DAA).
- Account stickiness, average WAA to MAA. The average percentage of monthly active accounts (MAA) that were active in a given week (WAA).
Stickiness metrics appear only when they're available for your subscription.
Visitor and account totals in the Overview metrics section are deduplicated across all filtered apps, including when you compare by segment or metadata. A visitor or account active in more than one app is counted once in the aggregate total.

Each metric card shows:
- The current aggregate value for the metric.
- The aggregate value for the previous matching period.
- The change compared to the previous matching period. This is shown as a percentage for most metrics and as a point change for NPS.
View trends
Select any metric, or select View trends below the metrics, to open a trending chart that shows how it changes over time. You can then hover over a data point in the chart for more details, as well as adjust the time period using the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the chart.
Customize metrics
To customize which metrics appear in the Engagement metrics section, select the column manager icon in the top-right corner, and add or remove up to 10 metrics. You can also reorder the metrics by dragging them into the order you prefer. Select Keep table columns in sync in the metric manager to use the same metric selection and order in the Applications table.
Applications table
The Applications table lists every app in your subscription that you have permission to view. By default, the table includes the same metrics available in the Engagement metrics section. You can also add visitor stickiness ratios (DAU/WAU, DAU/MAU, and WAU/MAU) and account stickiness ratios (DAA/WAA, DAA/MAA, and WAA/MAA) through Manage columns. Each ratio is added as a separate column. Weekends are included by default; use the column settings to exclude weekends.
Each metric includes a trend indicator so you can quickly see whether performance is improving or declining relative to the previous period. Show trends is selected by default. Clear this checkbox to hide trend indicators in the table; Pendo saves your preference for future visits. You can sort by any available sortable column to bring your most important apps to the top of the list.
In the top-right corner of the table, you can also:
- Export all data shown in the table as a CSV file. When a segment or metadata comparison is applied, the export places comparison values in a separate column labeled Segment or with the metadata field name. Aggregate app rows are labeled Everyone for segment comparisons and All for metadata comparisons.
- Add, remove, and reorder columns in the table.
- Search for a specific app by name to filter the table.
Stickiness columns
Use Manage columns in the Applications table to add Visitor stickiness or Account stickiness. For visitor stickiness, choose DAU/MAU, DAU/WAU, or WAU/MAU. For account stickiness, choose DAA/MAA, DAA/WAA, or WAA/MAA. You can add one column for each formula and choose whether to include or exclude weekends. Weekends are excluded by default.
Each stickiness column displays the percentage for each app and its change from the previous matching period. The value respects the page's segment, date range, account, and app filters. Stickiness can't be calculated when a historical metadata filter, custom event-property filter, or metadata comparison is active. In those cases, the cells don't show a value and provide an explanation.
Configure surveys for an app
Survey scores (NPS, PMF, UX-Lite, CSAT) in the Applications table are based on the linked survey for each app. You can link a survey to an app, or choose No survey to exclude an app from the metric.
To configure a survey for one or more apps:
- In the Applications table, select Link [Survey Type] survey next to any app. This opens the configuration window for that survey type.
- For each app, select a survey from the dropdown, or select No survey to exclude the app from this metric.
- Select Save.
Your changes apply to the corresponding survey column for the affected apps.
Compare apps by segment or metadata
You can compare data by segment or metadata to understand how different visitors drive performance across your apps. Comparisons apply to both the Engagement Metrics section and the Applications table. Stickiness columns support segment comparisons and show a separate value for each selected segment. Stickiness isn't available for metadata comparisons or when historical metadata filters are applied; affected cells display -- with an information tooltip explaining the limitation.
To compare data:
- Select + Add comparison in the filter bar.
- Choose Segment or Metadata from the Compare by dropdown.
- Make your selections.
- If comparing by segment, select each segment you want to compare, up to four total. Retention metrics aren't available for the Everyone (Anonymous Visitors Only) segment. For that comparison, retention values display as -- with an explanation, while other supported metrics continue to populate.
- If comparing by metadata, select the metadata field, operator, and at least two values. You can enter and select any value, but when searching for metadata values, only metadata set up as a Text type under Settings > Metadata populate in the list. Metadata comparisons use exact-value matching, so the Contains operator isn't available.
- Select Apply.
Share a view of app health
Before sharing, be aware that recipients only see the apps they have permission to view based on their own subscription access. They won't see apps or data outside of their permissions, even if those were visible in your view.
To share a specific app health view:
- Configure the page the way you want it, including filters, metrics, and table settings.
- Select Share.
- Copy the link and share it with your colleagues.
The shared link opens app health with your selected filters and settings applied as a one‑time view, rather than changing their saved filters on other pages in Pendo.
