Is there a way to put all users in different sample groups to reduce survey fatigue for guides

I am concerned about the users of my application getting fatigued from seeing too many in-app guides, especially surveys. Therefore, I was thinking if there was a way for me to put users in different sample groups (A, B, C, etc). where they were randomly assigned, I can target only a subset of users at a time. Is there a way for Pendo to do that?

  • Yes, you can. We do exactly that. We have several surveys running and we use sample group attribute in segment definition to ensure there is no overlap in the audience.  Every user is randomly assigned to a sample group (from 0-99 I think) when they first become known to Pendo, and it's static, so you can show one survey to those with a SG of 0-24, another 25-49, etc.

It would be nice if Pendo offered the option in a segment to say "Don't show a survey to a user who saw any other survey in the last X days" to help with this challenge.
