Using the Parameter value on a Page Tag
Hi all,
I have been trying to use the Parameter value today - and I have a Page that has multiple rules on, though want 1 of them to have parameter options.
Have a URL that is like these as an example:
- http://example.com/Create?ShortCode=ABC#filter123/*
- http://example.com/Create?ShortCode=DEF#filter433/*
- http://example.com/Create?ShortCode=GHI#filter345/*
I can test the URL and the rule is:
- //*/Create?ShortCode=*parameter*
My 2 related questions are:
- Would it help to have just 1 rule for the page?, do other rules conflict or have preference in any way?
- I cannot see there the "Top Parameters" section is, so unsure if my rule is correct ot not. (or that I may not have the access required)

Hi Nik,
Normally it's fine to have multiple page rules on a page. As long as the URL matches at least one of the rules on the page, the event will be displayed.
However, when using a rule with *parameter*, no other page rules can be used. Otherwise, you won't see the "Top Parameters" section. That's the issue you're running into. You'll want to delete the other page rules, or make a new page in Pendo with just the rule with *parameter*.
I've asked our content team to update our documentation to make this clearer. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks, I think there may have been a delay in it working, as was taking over 30-60mins to complete all the processing. Yesterday I was able to see the results in the page results.. from the online help, it was the line "These would appear inside your subscription under your page rule like this", which confused me, but this is on the Page results page.
However, "parameter" is working when I have multiple rules on the page definition, but they would not match/conflict with the URLs that I was trying to use the parameter on.
Also, I thought it was not working due to the text after the parameter.. e.g. filter123, etc, though Pendo was able to provide the parameters exactly how I wanted to see them, such as
Value Page Views
ABC 19
DEF 10
GHI 5

What's the limit to top parameters shown? Is there a way we can see all parameters?
Nik Jowett, glad to hear you were able to get the parameters working. I misspoke earlier, and you are correct that it's fine to have multiple page rules, including page rules with parameters.
Wei Kao, our UI displays only the top 100 parameters. To see all of the parameters, you would have to make an API call using our aggregations endpoint and reference the pageEvents source (https://developers.pendo.io/docs/?bash#events-grouped).
