Verifying a segment communicates to your team that the segment has been checked for quality and accuracy according to your organization’s standards. This helps your teammates select useful segments when conducting analysis, and allows your admins to maintain a clean, organized, and trustworthy dataset.
When you submit a segment for verification, the request goes to an admin to review and verify the segment. Only Pendo admin users can approve verification requests and unverify segments.
Submit a segment for verification (non-admins)
To verify a segment, go to People > Segments in the left-side menu. Select any segment to open the segment details pane. Select the verification dropdown, then select Request verification.
Note: Admins can verify segments without submitting them for verification. If you’re an admin, this option is listed as Verified.
A pop-up appears that lets you add an optional note to this verification request. Select Send request to submit this segment for verification.
The segment details pane updates to show that the segment is pending verification. If you hover over the verification status, it shows who took the last action on the verification status. In this case, it shows that verification was requested by you.
After you submit a request for segment verification, the request is added to a list of segments pending verification for admins to review. When an admin goes to the segment details, they’ll see the note and have the option to approve or reject the request.
After the admin has reviewed and either approved or rejected the request, the status of the segment is automatically updated to approved or rejected. You can see who took action on the request by hovering over the verification status.
Pending segment requests can be canceled by the original user who submitted the request, or by team members with eligible permissions.
To cancel a pending segment request, go to the segment details pane, select the Requested verification dropdown, then select Cancel request.
A pop-up appears to confirm. Select Cancel request to complete the cancellation.
Manage verification requests (admins)
Admins in Pendo can review, approve, and reject verification requests submitted by team members. They can also instantly verify and unverify segments without needing to submit them for approval.
You can verify or unverify individual segments from the segment details pane. To do so, go to People > Segments, select any segment to open the segment details pane, then select the Requested dropdown.
From here, select the verification dropdown, then select Accept and verify or Reject.
A popup appears to confirm your selection. Select Verify or Unverify to complete this action.
