Share Pages, Features, and Track Events with end customers

Last updated:

This article explains how to share and unshare events like Pages, Features, and Track Events from your OEM subscription to end-customer subscriptions. After you've tagged Pages and Features and configured Track Events, you can share them with your end customers to use them for guide delivery and analytics.

  • Pages help end customers control where guides appear and understand how visitors interact with their apps. For tagging instructions, see Page tagging.
  • Features support guide targeting and feature-level analytics on tagged UI elements. For tagging instructions, see Feature tagging.
  • Track Events enable segmentation and usage analysis for end-customer subscriptions. For configuration instructions, see Configure Track Events.

Prerequisites

You must be an OEM Manager to share and unshare events.

Share an event

You can share Pages, Features, and Track Events from the OEM settings page.

Important: When you share events with end-customer subscriptions, those events may be used in guides or segments. Unsharing them later could interrupt those use cases. To reduce risk, share only what's needed at first, and add more as needed over time.

  1. From the top-right corner of Pendo, go to Settings > OEM settings.

  2. Select the Configure analytics tab.
  3. Locate the relevant table: Pages, Features, or Track Events.
  4. In the top-right corner of the table, select + Manage Pages, + Manage Features, or + Manage Track Events.

  5. Choose what you'd like to share with your end customer.
    • To share individual items, select the checkbox next to each item.
    • To share all items in the table, select the checkbox in the header row.
  6. When you're done, select Publish. A confirmation message appears when the sharing is complete.
  7. If desired, you can customize how Pages and Features appear to end customers:
    • Update the Display name column with a more user-friendly label by selecting the current display name and then selecting the checkbox once entered.
    • For Features, you can also add helpful context in the Description column by selecting Add in the relevant row.
  8. Repeat these steps for each type of event you need to share.

Note: If events haven't been set up yet, the tables will be empty.

Unshare an event

To remove shared events from an end-customer subscription:

  1. From the top-right corner of Pendo, go to Settings > OEM partner settings.
  2. Select the Configure analytics tab.
  3. Locate the relevant table: Pages, Features, or Track Events.
  4. In the top-right corner of the table, select + Manage Pages, + Manage Features, or + Manage Track Events.
  5. In each table, uncheck each event you'd like to stop sharing with your end customers, then select Publish.
  6. After updating your selection, select Continue. A confirmation message appears when the sharing has been removed.

Note: If you want to unshare a Page that has shared Features associated with it, you must first unshare each Feature associated with the Page.

How unsharing events affects end customers

When you stop sharing a Page, Feature, or Track Event, it no longer updates in your end customer’s Pendo OEM subscription. If your app changes (for example, an updated URL or modified CSS), the original event rule may stop working. This can lead to:

  • Missing or incorrect analytics.
  • Segments that no longer match.
  • Guides that appear in the wrong place or fail to appear at all.

Your end customer may continue to see the event in their account, but with outdated or broken logic, until the event is updated and reshared.

Tip: Update the tagging rules instead of unsharing. This avoids breaking guide delivery or analytics for your end customers.

End customers can also create their own Pages (especially useful if they have custom URLs), so it’s best to only share Pages, Features, and Track Events they truly need.
