This article describes how you can customize the appearance of Feedback, white-label your emails and subdomains, and change your display name in Feedback.
Change Feedback appearance
By default, Feedback consists of the Pendo logo and colors. To rebrand Feedback so that it matches your product, you can replace:
- The logo at the top of your navigation and on emails sent to your visitors.
- The favicon that appears in browser tabs. We recommend using a PNG of 32 x 32px.
- The primary colors of your Pendo Feedback dashboard, navigation bar, and primary buttons.
Navigate to Settings > Product Settings > Branding and Appearance, and:
- Upload your company logo.
- Upload a favicon.
- Choose a new theme color.
You can preview these changes before making them live.
Set up email white label
By default, Feedback sends notification emails (engagement emails, flexible emails, status responses) to your team and visitors from no-reply@pendo.io.
Email white label allows you to send notification emails from your company domain (for example, feedback@yourdomain.com) as opposed to Pendo's domain.
As well as branding and product consistency, this is useful for communicating with your visitors, who can reply directly to notifications.
Without email white label, you don't receive visitor replies to notifications sent from the Pendo domain. With email white label, replies are routed into your Pendo Feedback account with a special reply-to header on the email that looks something like ac+abc123@app.mail.receptive.io.
Step 1: Contact Support requesting DNS records
To set up an email white label, contact Pendo Support with the following information:
- From email. This should route to a real email address at your actual domain, for example, feedback@yourdomain.com.
- From name, such as, Company Name Feedback.
- Host. The domain you'd like to send emails from.
Your domain should match the email address that you've chosen. For example, feedback@yourdomain.com would use yourdomain as the domain. You can also use a subdomain, for example, feedback.subdomain@yourdomain.com.
Pendo notifies you when DNS entries are ready.
Example message to Pendo Support:
Hi Pendo Support,Please configure our Feedback email white label using the following info:From email: feedback@example.comFrom name: "Feedback Example"Host: example.com
Step 2: Set up your DNS records
Find your DNS records in Feedback > Settings > Product Settings and send them to your network administrator to set them up. Let us know when your network administrator has set up your DNS records by responding to your Support ticket.
We then check your DNS records and activate your white-label emails.
After this, your emails can be sent to your team and customers from your chosen email address. Pendo Feedback's servers sign the emails on your behalf for maximum deliverability.
Example DNS records
Set up subdomain white label
A white label domain allows you to use your own subdomain name (feedback.example.com) instead of the default Pendo Feedback URL.
Step 1: Send us your CNAME
Contact Pendo Support to provide us with your CNAME (Canonical Name) so that we can add it to our CNAME record. The CNAME is the domain name (https://feedback.example.com) that maps your subdomain to a location.
Wait for Pendo Support to send you a CNAME entry to add to your DNS record.
Step 2: Set up your DNS records
Find your DNS records in Feedback > Settings > Product Settings and send them to your network administrator to set them up. Let us know when your network administrator has set up your DNS records by responding to your Support ticket.
Note: We use Let’s Encrypt certificates for our white-label domains. Your CNAME must be set up to allow Let’s Encrypt certificates.
We then check your DNS records and activate your white-label domain. We let you know when we’ve completed this part of the setup.
After this, you can use your own URL (https://feedback.example.com). You won’t be able to log in at the general Feedback URL. Any users that try to use the old URL are redirected to your CNAME.
Change your Display Name
Pendo Feedback allows you to set a name for your subscription. The subscription name is displayed to visitors using the Feedback widget, and so it’s common to match this with your company name.
You can change your Display Name from the main Pendo Settings page.
- Navigate to Settings > Subscription Settings.
- Scroll down to General, find Display Name, and select the current active name next to it.
- Enter your replacement name.
- Select the tick icon to confirm, and the cross (x) icon to cancel.
Your Feedback subscription name, found in Feedback > Settings > Product Settings > General, automatically updates to match the Display Name in the main Pendo Settings page. For more information about Feedback Product Settings, see Settings for Pendo Feedback.
