After creating an idea in Listen > Ideas, you can then gather evidence for those ideas. Evidence can:
- Come from your existing collection of feedback.
- Proactively added to ideas by Pendo users.
Add evidence to ideas
In Listen, evidence is added to ideas:
- Through idea tests that you present to your visitors. For more information and instructions, see the Test ideas article.
- Through votes on an ideas portal. For more information and instructions, see Engage users through an ideas portal and Customize your ideas portal.
- By linking a feedback item to an idea. The idea should meet a common need that's communicated in multiple feedback items linked to that idea. For instructions, see Link feedback items to ideas.
- By linking highlights to an idea. Highlights are snippets of feedback from larger feedback items.
- When you add a vote on behalf of a visitor, known as a proxy vote.
Add a vote to an idea on behalf of a visitor
Submitting a vote for a visitor is known as a proxy vote. To add a vote to an idea on behalf of your visitors, go to Listen > Ideas and open the appropriate idea by selecting its title in the Ideas table. If the idea doesn’t yet exist, follow the instructions in Create and manage ideas.
For information on how to view the details of an individual idea, see Create and manage ideas. After you’ve opened an idea, select Add a vote at the bottom of the idea, or the thumbs up icon at the top of the idea details panel.
In the Add a vote window that appears:
- Select an account and a visitor from the first two dropdown menus.
- Select an Importance level: Must have, Nice to have, or Not interested. You can only choose one option. These options aren't editable. For more information, see Importance ratings in this article.
- Optionally, add a comment.
Then select Add a Vote at the bottom.
Check that the vote has been added by opening the Evidence tab of the idea.
View evidence on an idea
Select the Evidence tab to view the votes added to an idea and their respective importance ratings. You can view votes on an idea in Card view or Table view.
Toggle on Apply Page Filters if you want to filter the votes in the idea by the filters already applied to the ideas list in Listen > Ideas.
Importance ratings
Evidence is accompanied by an importance rating: Must Have, Nice to Have, or Not Interested. This is a mutually exclusive choice. You can't rank ideas by importance.
For evidence added directly to an idea, the user is prompted to choose one of the importance ratings at the time that they submit their evidence.
For feedback that's linked to an idea, the default importance rating is Nice to Have. Pendo users can change this from within the feedback item in Listen.
