Set up Listen Explore

This article provides instructions for setting up Listen Explore for your subscription. For an overview, including functionality, use cases, and how it works, see Explore feedback with AI in Listen.

Listen Explore is a set of AI-powered features in Listen that enable you to:

  • Automatically analyze large volumes of feedback by identifying and grouping similar themes.
  • Use natural language queries to run feedback reports.
  • Categorize feedback automatically by type.

Listen Explore uses generative AI to analyze feedback data and produce summaries for topics, highlights, and feedback. For more information about AI settings, see Subscription settings. For more information about AI in general, see Artificial intelligence (AI) at Pendo.

Note: By default, Listen Explore is enabled for most subscriptions as part of the Listen module. If you don't have access to Listen Explore, contact Pendo support.

Prerequisites

To set up Listen Explore, you must have:

  • Admin permissions in Pendo.
  • Access to Listen > Explore. If you don't see this in the main menu, contact Pendo support.

Set up Listen Explore

Before Listen Explore can analyze your feedback, you must complete the setup flow by accessing Explore through the main menu. Follow the steps to provide business context through your company profile, and select which feedback sources to connect for AI analysis. You can edit your business context at any time from your subscription settings. For more information, see Subscription settings.

To set up Listen Explore:

  1. Go to Listen > Explore.
  2. Select Get started with AO setup.
  3. Select Edit company profile to edit your business context.
  4. Review the following fields:
    • Business name. The name of your business as your customers recognize it.
    • Company website or domain. This is required to create an AI-generated description of your business and products. Pendo uses Tavily, a third-party AI service, to generate this context.
    • Business and product description. A description of your business and product that helps the AI produce accurate reports. If you manage multiple apps under one subscription, include descriptions for all apps.
    • Competitors. List any direct competitors, separated by pressing Enter after each one. This context helps tailor your comparative analysis.
  5. Select Generate business context to produce the AI-generated business description. This can take a few minutes.
  6. Review and edit the AI-generated content in Business and product description.
  7. Select Check business context to get an AI-generated review of the information provided, including any suggestions for improvement.
  8. Select Save to continue. This opens the Access feedback data with AI page.
  9. In the table of sources, deselect any feedback sources you don't want to automatically import to Listen for AI analysis.
  10. Optionally, you can select Connect to set up the connection to new feedback sources, such as external integrations.
  11. Select Import to begin connecting sources and processing feedback.
  12. Select Close to complete setup.

After you've completed the setup, Explore processes the information you provided with your feedback data. This may take a few hours. You'll receive an email notification when Explore is ready, so you can leave this page while setup completes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data used to train the AI model?

No. Pendo doesn't use your data to train AI models. For details, see Artificial intelligence (AI) at Pendo.

Why do I need to provide business, product, and competitor information?

This information helps the AI produce relevant and accurate reports. It isn't stored or used to train the model.
