You can clone a guide to make a copy of it for use in the same or another app instead of having to build it more than once. This includes cloning guides across OS, for example, iOS <> Android. This is perfect for when you want the same guide to appear in different apps.
Requirements for cloning cross-application
- Multi-app Subscription or Mobile V2
- Guide Creator permissions: both on the hosting app and the target app.
Clone a guide
To clone a guide:
- In the left-hand menu, go to Guides > Guides.
- Select a guide from the guides list.
- In the guide's details page, select the ellipses (...) in the top-right corner and then select Clone Guide from the dropdown menu.
- In the Clone Guide window, select the app where you want to clone the guide:
- Single App subscriptions - clone the guide in the same application.
-
Multi-App or Mobile subscription - select the target app from the list, then select Clone Guide.
Apply the selected app's default theme
When cloning a guide, you can choose to clone the guide as is (including the design) or use the target app's default theme instead.
Note that custom edit building blocks will be cloned as is (i.e. the same design). This only affects themed elements.
Settings that are not copied to cloned guide
Web guide limitations
- URLs (Step locations, Activation, etc) will be changed to 'Sitewide'. For example, if a step is set to "show only on this page" or targets a Feature (tooltip, badge), you need to reconfigure the new Page or Feature where the step should be shown.
- Custom fonts - reset to the default fonts
- Localization - new translations are required
- Launch guide button action - Target guide is removed from the action. For example, a button that has a "Launch Guide" action needs to be reconfigured in the cloned guide.
- Code blocks - are removed
Mobile guide limitations
- Step locations (Activation, tooltips) are removed. This means that if a step had previously been set to be "show only on this page" or targeted a feature (tooltip), you need to reconfigure the new Page or Feature on which this step should be shown at.
- Custom fonts - resets to the default fonts
- Localization - new translations are required
- Launch guide button action - Target guide is removed from the action. For example, a button that has a "Launch Guide" action needs to be reconfigured in the cloned guide.
- Poll fonts reset to 'Roboto' or 'SF'
