Update the status of a survey
Manage your survey by updating the status to reflect where it's in your organization's rollout plan. The following statuses are available:
- Draft. Initial status upon creation.
- Pending review. Ensure the survey goes through your organization's quality check.
- Staged. Ready to be activated.
- Public. Survey is activated and visitors can view and respond.
- Disabled. The survey is no longer available.
Copy a survey permalink
A permalink (permanent link) is a URL that points to a specific web page and is intended to remain unchanged over long periods of time, creating stability for any links you might use. You can use a permalink to display a survey on a specific page in your web application so that visitors see the guide when they open that page.
To get a permalink for a survey:
- In the Surveys list, select a survey to edit.
- In the survey editor, select More options > Permalinks.
- In the Permalinks window, copy the link of the survey step that you want visitors to see when they open a particular page in your web application.
- Open the web page where you want the survey to display and add the copied link the URL of the page. The string follows the convention
?pendo=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&step=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. This string is the unique identifier of the survey step you're on.
View survey edit history
You can view the edit history of a survey.
- In the Surveys list, select a survey to edit.
- In the survey editor, select More options > View edit history. This opens the edit history page for the survey. In this page you can:
- Filter edits by user.
- Specify a date range of the edit history.
- View survey details at the top of the page.
- View edits made to individual steps of the survey.
Clone a survey
Cloning a survey preserves its questions and settings, including segments, activation, and scheduling, and localization. By default, the status of the cloned survey is set to Draft regardless of the status of the original survey.
To clone a survey in the Survey table:
- In the Surveys table, hover over a survey.
- Select the icon
. This opens the Clone Survey window.
- Select an App for the survey. If you select a different app from the original, we recommend that you review the survey settings before publishing.
- Select Clone Survey. The new survey is renamed to "Copy of [survey name]".
Alternatively, you can clone a survey from within the survey editor:
- Select More options > Clone survey.
- Select an App for the survey. If you select a different app from the original, we recommend that you review the survey settings before publishing.
- Select Clone Survey. The new survey is renamed to "Copy of [survey name]".
Delete a survey
To delete a survey:
- In the Surveys table, go to the survey to remove it.
- Select the Remove icon.
- Select Delete survey to confirm.
- Alternatively, you can select the individual survey to open the survey editor page, and select Delete from the status dropdown menu in the top-right corner.
