Activating a survey makes it publicly available to eligible visitors in your app. This article explains how to activate a survey in Sentiment. Activating an NPS survey has a slightly different workflow; see Set up an NPS survey for more information.
Overview of activation
- Activating a survey means the status of the survey changes to Public.
- Activation is instant.
- You can't edit a survey after it is activated.
- Activation can be scheduled.
Activation types
There are two ways to activate a survey:
- Automatic. This is the default activation method for surveys. Activation is instant. For more information about automatic activation, see Overlay guide activation options.
- Scheduled. Use this option if you want to deliver surveys on a recurring basis.
Activate a survey
To activate a survey:
- In Sentiment, go to the survey you want to activate.
- In the Status column, select Public.
- A confirmation pop-up appears to confirm the following:
- Who will see the survey (based on any segments applied).
- The activation type (automatic or scheduled).
- Review the activation details and select Publish survey.
Scheduled activation of a survey
For a more staggered rollout of a survey, use a schedule. If you want to create a recurring schedule of the survey, where visitors receive the survey on a recurring basis, this is configured in the Schedule settings.
To configure a scheduled activation of a survey:
- In Sentiment, select the survey you want to schedule.
- Open the Settings tab.
- In the Scheduling section, select Edit.
- Configure the following schedule settings:
- Delivery frequency. Choose to deliver one-time only, or select a recurring frequency at which the survey reappears to visitors. Options include every 30, 60, 90, 180 or 365 days.
- Start date and time. Select the date and time of the first release of the survey. This is based on your timezone, which can be found in your subscription settings.
- Evenly distribute delivery. Spread the rollout of the survey across the selected period for a steady flow of data. For more information about even distribution of survey delivery, see Even Distribution for NPS in Pendo.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
