The Oracle Eloqua integration with Orchestrate lets you incorporate Eloqua email campaigns into your cross-channel journeys, so you can track email engagement alongside your in-app guides. The Oracle Eloqua email integration is included with Orchestrate. For information about Orchestrate, see Overview of Orchestrate.
For information about connecting Eloqua to Pendo Predict instead, see Add Oracle Eloqua as a data source in Pendo Predict.
Prerequisites
To use the Oracle Eloqua integration with Pendo for email journeys in Orchestrate, you must have:
- Pendo Orchestrate included in your subscription.
- Admin permissions in Pendo. For more information, see Roles and permissions.
- An Oracle Eloqua account with login credentials available.
If you get an error message stating that you don't have access to the integration, check that all the prerequisites are met.
Find your Eloqua credentials
To set up the integration, you need the following information from your Eloqua account. All four fields are required. No additional configuration is required on the Eloqua side.
- Base URL. The base or root URL of your Eloqua company account, for example https://secure.p01.eloqua.com. The URL must not end with a trailing slash.
- Password. Your Eloqua account password. If you don't remember your password, reset it in Eloqua before setting up the integration.
- Username. Your Eloqua username.
- Site Name. The name of your Eloqua company, for example "TrayElqSandbox".
To find these details in Eloqua:
- Sign in to Oracle Eloqua.
- Select your profile icon in the top-right corner. Your username and company name display here. Use the company name as your Site Name.
- Copy the base or root URL of your Eloqua company account from your browser's address bar, for example https://secure.p01.eloqua.com.
Set up the integration
To set up the Oracle Eloqua integration with Pendo Orchestrate, complete the following steps in Pendo.
- In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
- Find and open the Oracle Eloqua tile.
- Select Email. The Eloqua authentication page opens.
- Open the account dropdown, then select Add a new account. The Create a new authentication dialog opens.
- Enter your Base URL, Password, Username, and Site Name, then select Create. Each field has a help icon with more detail. For help finding these details, see the previous section.
- Your Eloqua account appears in the dropdown on the Eloqua authentication page. Select it, then select Next.
- On the Select visitor metadata page, in the Visitor metadata dropdown, select the metadata field that identifies your visitor in Eloqua, for example "email (agent)".
- In the Metadata type dropdown, select the type of data that field contains. Choose from:
- Email Address. Use this if the metadata field holds the visitor's email address.
- Contact ID. Use this if sharing email addresses with Pendo isn't possible for privacy or compliance reasons. Pendo sends the email from Eloqua using the Eloqua Contact ID, so the visitor's email address is never stored in Pendo. The Contact IDs must already exist in Pendo as visitor metadata. Pendo doesn't import them from Eloqua for you.
- Select Next, then select Finish.
The Eloqua Email page displays with an Active status, confirming that Oracle Eloqua is successfully integrated. You can select Edit integration to change your settings. The Logs section displays integration events, status updates, and timestamps, and is the first place to look if something isn't working.
Verify the integration
After setup, confirm the integration is working by checking that Pendo can fetch your Eloqua emails.
- Go to Orchestrate > Journeys.
- Create a new journey or open an existing one.
- Select Add step, or the + icon if the journey already has a message.
- Select Add Oracle Eloqua email from the dropdown.
- A loading screen displays while Pendo fetches your Eloqua emails. If the emails load, the integration is working.
After you've integrated Eloqua with Orchestrate, you can add Eloqua emails to a journey. For full instructions, see Add messages to your journey.
Troubleshooting
The email list doesn't load. Go to Settings > Integrations, open the Oracle Eloqua tile, and check the Logs section for error details.
The email you expect isn't in the list. The Eloqua email picker shows up to 500 active emails created in the last 90 days. If your email falls outside that range, it doesn't appear. Each Eloqua email can also be used in only one journey at a time, so an email already in use elsewhere isn't available.
A journey stops sending an Eloqua email. If you delete the email or deactivate the campaign in Oracle Eloqua while it's linked to a journey, the journey doesn't send it and no failure notification is sent. Check the email is still active in Eloqua.
Next steps
