Create an issue from a replay

Last updated:

You can create bug reports for your application directly from the replay player, eliminating the need to manually gather data for reporting issues.

If you use Jira for issue management, connect it to Pendo to streamline your workflow. This integration allows you to populate issue fields automatically with information from the replay, saving you the step of switching to Jira in a separate browser tab. For more information, see Set up the Jira integration.

Note: Depending on whether you have the Replay summaries and descriptions (beta) AI setting turned on, your experience will look slightly different than what’s outlined in this article. If you see a wand icon in the Create an issue button, this means AI is turned on. For more information, see AI features.

Create an issue

  3. If you have AI turned on, you're prompted to provide a description of the expected behavior. Add a few sentences on what you expected to happen. This provides context for the AI to generate a description in the next step.
  4. The modal updates with details about the replay. If you have AI enabled, you get a Summary and Description, including replay data and reproduction steps. You can edit the description by selecting the description field. If you don't have AI enabled, you get the replay data, including a link to the replay clip and a list of all metadata for this replay. You can also select Connect to Jira to initiate the setup process for Pendo’s Jira integration.
  5. To copy this information to your issue management tool, select Copy description.

Two confirmation messages appear: one to confirm the issue was created, and another to confirm the replay clip was saved. Select the links in those confirmation messages to go directly to the new issue or clip.

  3. If you have AI turned on, you're prompted to provide a description of the expected behavior. Add a few sentences describing what you expected to happen. This provides context for the AI to generate a description in the next step. If you don't have AI turned on, go to the next step.
  4. Select the Project and Issue type to categorize this new issue under. This activates the Summary and Description fields with details about the replay.
    • If you have AI enabled, extra context populates in the summary and reproduction steps alongside the replay data in the description.
    • If you don't have AI enabled, you get the replay data, including a link to the replay clip and a list of all metadata for this replay.
    • If needed, copy the text in the description by selecting the copy icon in the top-right of the field.
    • If you don't already have Jira connected to Pendo, select Connect to Jira to initiate the setup process for Pendo’s Jira integration.
  5. Modify the Summary and Description fields as needed, then choose to complete any additional fields, including those shown under Show more fields. The available fields vary depending on the issue type selected, though Parent issue (except for epics), Assignee, Labels, and Priority appear for all issue types.
  6. After you complete all desired fields, select Create issue.
