Suggested replays highlight sessions worth watching, such as replays with rage clicks, usage spikes, or the first use of a Page or Feature. You can share these suggestions to Slack so your team can review them where they already work. Share a single suggestion as a one-time message, or set up a recurring digest that posts suggested replays from a saved view on a schedule.
Use cases
Share suggested replays to Slack when you want to:
- Send a specific replay to a teammate to watch, without asking them to sign in to Pendo.
- Keep your team aware of new frustration signals with a recurring digest.
- Route suggested replays for a specific product area or segment to the channel that owns it.
- Share suggested replays from new feature launches with the team that shipped them.
How it works
You can share suggested replays in two ways. A one-time message sends a single suggestion to a channel on demand. A recurring digest evaluates the suggested replays for a saved view on a schedule and posts them to the channels you choose.
Each recurring digest belongs to the user who created it. You can create, edit, and delete your own digests, but you can't view or change digests created by other users. More than one person can set up their own digest from the same saved view.
Note: If the saved view behind a digest changes, Pendo shows a banner so you can review the digest against the updated view.
Before you begin
Before you share suggested replays to Slack, make sure the following are in place:
- Connect Slack. The Slack integration must be connected for your subscription. For more information, see Overview of Slack integrations with Pendo.
- Replay access. Anyone with access to Session Replay can share suggested replays and manage their own digests. No admin permission is required.
Send a single suggested replay to Slack
Send one suggested replay to a channel as a one-time message.
- Go to Replay > Library.
- Find the suggested replay you want to share from the Suggested replays section.
- At the bottom of the suggestion, select the Share to Slack icon.
- Select a public channel from the dropdown menu.
- Select Send.
Pendo posts the suggestion and a link to watch the replay in the channel you selected.
Set up a recurring digest of suggested replays
Create a digest that posts suggested replays from a saved view on a schedule.
- Go to Replay > Library.
- Open or create a saved view you want the digest to use. Suggested replays are responsive to filtering.
- Select Manage Slack updates.
- Enter a Name for the digest. This will show in the Slack message.
- Select a delivery Frequency from the dropdown menu: daily, weekly, or monthly, then choose when you want the digest to be delivered.
- Select each public channel to post to.
- Select each type of suggested replay to include.
- Review the preview to see how the digest will appear in Slack. The preview uses example data and doesn’t show your real data.
- Select Save preferences.
Pendo confirms the digest and posts it to your selected channels on the schedule you set.
Edit or turn off a digest
You can change or stop any digest you created.
- Go to the saved view, then select Manage Slack updates.
- To edit a digest, select the three dots next to the configured digest, then select Edit. Update the name, frequency, channels, or insight types, then select Save preferences.
- To stop a digest, select Turn off.
