Send NPS responses to a Slack channel

Last updated:

You can send real-time Pendo NPS responses to a channel in Slack. This article provides guidance for setting up this integration and configuring custom metadata for more informative NPS summaries in Slack.

This integration is different from our link unfurling feature that allows you to send previews of Feature, Page, and Track Event details in Slack. For instructions, see Add Pendo link previews to Slack.

Prerequisites

This integration requires the following:

  • Pendo admin access.
  • Slack admin access.
  • An existing channel in Slack to send NPS data to.

You can't send NPS responses to more than one Slack channel, even if you have multiple NPS surveys or multiple applications. The integration connects to one Slack channel only and applies to the entire Pendo subscription. You can, instead, use third-party connectors, such as Zapier or Tray.io, which allow you to build custom integrations that can send Pendo NPS responses to Slack.

Set up the integration

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations from the bottom of the left-side menu.
  2. Find and select Slack. This opens a panel on the right side of the screen.
  3. Select Slack NPS from the Select an Integration dropdown menu at the top of the panel.

  4. Select Add Slack NPS at the bottom of the panel.
  5. In the window that opens, choose a channel to post your NPS responses to. If you don’t have admin permissions for Slack, you get a message asking you to contact your Slack admin.
  6. Select Allow to authorize the integration and return to Pendo.

Configure your message summary

Configure your Slack messages using the metadata values from Pendo.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations from the bottom of the left-side menu.
  2. Find and select Slack. This opens a panel on the right side of the screen.
  3. Select Slack NPS from the Select an Integration dropdown menu at the top of the panel.
  4. In the Setup tab, add relevant visitor and account metadata that you want to see alongside the NPS responses sent to your Slack channel.
    • Visitor and Account IDs are required in your your NPS summary.
    • Selected metadata fields only appear in NPS responses in Slack if there are values associated with them at the time of submission. Fields with blank values don't appear.
  5. Open the Preview tab to see an example of an NPS response received in Slack.
