Connect Slack to Pendo

Last updated:

Connect your Slack workspace to Pendo to access all available Slack integrations from a single tile in the integrations page.

Note: NPS isn't included in the standard connection flow and requires separate setup. See Send NPS responses to a Slack channel for more information.

Prerequisites

To connect Slack to Pendo, you must have:

  • Admin permissions in Pendo.
  • Admin permissions in your Slack workspace.

Step 1. Connect Slack to Pendo

There are two ways to connect Slack to Pendo. Your selection depends on your organization's permission requirements:

  • Enable all: Connects all integrations using a single set of permissions. Any new Slack integrations added in future are available automatically.
  • Enable individually: Each integration uses its own minimum set of permissions. Use this option if your organization restricts the permissions granted to third-party apps. New integrations require a manual setup when added.

Both public and private channels are supported for all integrations. For private channels, see Add Pendo to a private Slack channel.

To connect Slack to Pendo using Enable all:

  1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select the Slack tile.

  3. Select Enable all. This opens a new window listing the permissions required to connect Pendo to Slack.
  4. Select the Slack workspace to connect to.
  5. Review the permissions, then select Allow.

To enable each Slack integration individually:

  1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select the Slack tile.
  3. Select the toggle for the integration you want to enable. This opens a new window listing the permissions required to connect Pendo to Slack.

  1. Select the Slack workspace to connect to.
  2. Review the permissions, then select Allow.

Note: If you're not a Slack workspace admin, you won't be able to select Allow. Instead, you can send a request to your Slack workspace admin to connect Pendo.

After connecting, the following integrations are available in the tile:

  • Ask Pendo. Ask Pendo product questions in Slack using the @Pendo mention. Requires Leo to be enabled on your subscription. Each user must connect their Pendo account the first time they use Ask Pendo in Slack.
  • Share data-rich previews in Slack. Anyone in your Pendo subscription can share Pendo links in Slack messages and the links will preview some of the metadata.
  • Send feedback to Listen. Allows non-Pendo users to submit feedback to Listen. Set which apps and Product Areas are eligible to receive feedback in Settings.
  • Send Pendo data to Slack covers integrations with Agent Analytics, product signals, and Listen. Each requires additional configuration in its respective area of Pendo:

Add Pendo to a private Slack channel

If you want to use any Slack integration inside a private Slack channel, you must invite the Pendo app to that channel first.

To add the Pendo app to a channel:

  1. In Slack, go to the channel you want to connect.
  2. Type @Pendo in the channel, and select Enter. Slack adds the Pendo app to the channel.
  3. Alternatively, you can add the Pendo app to the channel by selecting the channel name, then go to Integrations > Apps > Add apps. Search for the Pendo app, then add it.

Step 2. Manage your Slack connection

If you connected Slack using Enable all, individual integration toggles are locked. To manage integrations independently, select Manage Features in the tile header.

To manage integrations independently:

  1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select the Slack tile.
  3. Select Manage Features. This unlocks the individual toggles so you can turn each integration on or off. Integrations remain active by default.
  4. Select the toggle for each integration to disable it.

To return to unified mode, select Enable all. This locks the individual toggles again and restores a single set of permissions across all integrations.
