Pendo Subscription Analytics gives you visibility into how your team uses Pendo. It tracks activity in Pendo and lets you analyze up-to-date metrics, including login frequency, feature adoption, and activity trends. This helps you understand internal adoption of Pendo, identify low-usage users, and identify power users, so you can maximize Pendo's impact across your organization.
Prerequisites
To use Pendo Subscription Analytics, you must:
- Have Pendo Subscription Analytics turned on.
- Use the US instance of Pendo (
app.pendo.iois where you sign in).
Note: This feature is available in closed beta. To request access, fill out the interest form. Your Pendo account representative will follow up to turn it on for your subscription.
Access Pendo Subscription Analytics
After Pendo Subscription Analytics is turned on, you can access data and start analyzing how your organization uses Pendo using the same analytics tools you use for your own application.
Pendo Subscription Analytics tracks your users' activity on app.pendo.io using each user's Pendo email address as their Visitor ID, allowing you to analyze activity at the individual user level.
Pendo Subscription Analytics isn't retroactive. Data tracking begins from the date the feature is turned on for your subscription. Activity that occurred before this isn't captured.
To view the data, use the app filter to access the detailed Page analytics.
Tagged Pages
Pendo Subscription Analytics includes 36 pre-tagged Pages to help you start analyzing usage. The tagged Pages are read-only and shared across all subscriptions that use this feature.
The Pendo Pages that are automatically tracked include dashboards, guides, segments, reports, and settings.
These Pages follow the same naming convention: the name starts with Pendo, followed by the area of the product they track. For example:
- Pendo | Dashboards list. Tracks visits to the Dashboards page.
- Pendo | Guide settings. Tracks visits to individual guide settings.
- Pendo | Users and teams. Tracks visits to the Users and teams page.
To see the full list, go to Product > Pages and search for the Pages that begin with Pendo.
To view only Pages associated with your Pendo usage, filter by App and select Pendo Subscription Analytics. This helps keep the Pendo analytics Pages separate from the Pages you've tagged for your own application.
Important: When Pendo Subscription Analytics is turned on, all users in your subscription can access the data. To restrict access, remove app viewing permissions for specific users. Learn more about Roles and permissions.
Change the display name
You can rename the Pendo Subscription Analytics application to match your organization’s preferred display name in the app filter. To do this:
- In the top-right corner of Pendo, go to Settings > Subscription settings.
- Select the Applications tab.
- Select Pendo Subscription Analytics from the application list.
- In the App Details tab, select the application name.
- Enter a new name.
- Select the checkmark to save your changes.
Create custom segments
You can create custom segments based on feature clicks and usage patterns to analyze specific user groups.
For example, you can create a segment for users who haven't been active in Pendo over the last 30 days to identify and re-engage team members with low usage.
Limitations
Because this feature is in beta, some functionality isn’t available or is limited.
- Guide creation isn't available. You can’t create guides that display within app.pendo.io.
- Multiple subscriptions aren't supported. Data is scoped to one subscription at a time. If your organization has multiple subscriptions, you must view usage separately for each one.
- Tagged Pages are read-only. The tagged Pages are shared across all subscriptions using this feature.
- Access can't be restricted. The application is visible to all users in your subscription, and you can't restrict access at this time.
