This article explains how to set up and manage Slack digests for Agent Analytics. Slack digests send scheduled updates about your AI agent's performance, including key metrics, visitor adoption, and emergent issues, directly to a designated Slack channel.
Requirements
Before you create a Slack digest for your AI agent, ensure you have the following:
- Subscription admin permissions in Pendo to configure integrations.
- Subscription admin or AI Agent Admin permissions to configure Slack digests.
Step 1. Connect Slack to Pendo
Before creating a Slack digest, an admin must set up the Slack integration.
- From the top-right corner of Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
- Select Slack. This opens a panel on the right side of the screen.
- Under Slack for Agent Analytics, select Set up and activate.
- If this is your first time setting up a Slack integration in Pendo, select New authentication. If your Slack workspace is already authenticated, select your workspace from the dropdown menu, select Next > Finish, and then skip to the next section: Step 2. Set up a Slack digest.
- In the window that opens, choose a Slack channel to complete authentication. This selection doesn’t affect where you can send Slack digests later.
- Select Allow to authorize the integration and return to Pendo.
- Select Finish to activate the integration.
Step 2. Invite the Pendo app to a private channel
If you want to send the digest to a private channel in Slack, you must add the Pendo app to that channel before setting up the digest in Pendo.
To add the Pendo app to a channel:
- In Slack, go to the channel you want to connect.
- Type @Pendo in the channel, and select Enter. Slack adds the Pendo app to the channel.
- Alternatively, you can add the Pendo app to the channel by selecting the channel name, then go to Integrations > Apps > Add apps. Search for the Pendo app, then add it.
After the app is added, you see the private channel listed in the channel menu in Pendo when configuring your recipient list.
Step 3. Set up a Slack digest
Create a recurring digest to send a summary of your AI agent's performance to a Slack channel on a regular schedule. You can review the Preview section at the bottom of the page to see an example of the Slack message using sample data.
- Go to Product > Agent Analytics from the left-side menu in Pendo.
- Under AI agents, select the Edit settings gear icon next to the relevant agent.
- Select Slack digest in the top-left corner, or scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Under Channel, search for and select the Slack channel where you want to receive the digest. The dropdown list includes all public and select private channels in your Slack workspace.
- Under Frequency, choose how often the digest should post (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly).
- Depending on your frequency, select the specific day of the week or day of the month for the delivery.
- Select the delivery time and your preferred timezone.
- Under Segment, choose a segment to filter the data included in the digest.
After all fields are complete, the digest saves automatically.
To stop sending the digest, select Turn off Slack digest next to the Channel field.
