Connect Slack to Pendo

Last updated:

Connect your Slack workspace to Pendo to enable data sharing between the two platforms. Once connected, you can activate individual Slack integrations from a single location in Pendo.

Note: NPS isn't included in the standard connection flow and requires separate setup. See Send NPS responses to a Slack channel for more information.

Prerequisites

To connect Slack to Pendo, you must have:

  • Admin permissions in Pendo.
  • Admin permissions in your Slack workspace.

Step 1. Connect Slack to Pendo

Connecting Slack to Pendo gives you access to all available Slack integrations from a single tile in the integrations Marketplace. You can enable all integrations at once, or turn on individual integrations based on your needs.

To connect Slack to Pendo:

  1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select the Slack tile.

  1. Select Enable all.
  2. Review the permissions, then select Allow.

Note: If you're not a Slack workspace admin, then you won't be able to select Allow and connect Pendo to Slack. Instead, you can send a request to your Slack workspace admin to connect Pendo.

After you connect Slack to Pendo, the following integrations are ready to use:

  • Share data-rich previews into Slack
  • Send feedback to Listen

The Agent Analytics and Pendo Trends integrations requires further configuration in their respective pages in the Pendo UI.

Step 2. Enable Slack integrations

After connecting, you can enable and disable each Slack integration independently.

The following integrations only require enablement through the toggle in the Slack tile before they are available to your subscription and Slack workspace:

The following data-out integrations require additional configuration in their respective areas. Select recipient channels from the selection menus to start receiving updates in Slack. See the relevant article for any additional requirements specific to that integration.

Both public and private channels are supported for all integrations. For configuring access to private channels, see the following section Add Pendo to a private Slack channel.

Selecting Enable all doesn't affect the NPS integration with Slack. You must enable that separately in the integration tile. This is because the NPS integration with Slack requires setting a single Slack channel to receive incoming NPS responses. Once selected, it can't be changed. We recommend your team plan and create a dedicated Slack channel to receive these updates. For more information, see Send NPS responses to a Slack channel.

Add Pendo to a private Slack channel

If you want to use any of the Slack integrations inside a private Slack channel, you must complete an additional step of inviting the Pendo app to that channel.

To add the Pendo app to a channel:

  1. In Slack, go to the channel you want to connect.
  2. Type @Pendo in the channel, and select Enter. Slack adds the Pendo app to the channel.
  3. Alternatively, you can add the Pendo app to the channel by selecting the channel name, then go to Integrations > Apps > Add apps. Search for the Pendo app, then add it.

Step 3. Disconnect Slack from Pendo

To disconnect your Slack workspace from Pendo:

  1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select the Slack tile.
  3. Select Disconnect.
  4. Confirm you want to disconnect.
