Overview
Pendo Admins can create and manage custom statuses for both ideas and feedback to reflect your internal product workflows. Statuses give your team visibility into the state of an item and can help communicate progress to customers.
Note: If your subscription includes both Listen and Roadmaps, any changes to idea statuses (such as renaming, adding, deleting, or reordering) also apply to features and ideas in Roadmaps. These updates affect both existing and future items.
By default, Pendo includes predefined statuses for both ideas and feedback. You can customize these or add new ones to better align with your internal processes. Permissions
The following rules apply to managing statuses:
- Only admins can create, edit, or delete statuses.
- All users can view statuses.
- Visitors can view statuses attached to ideas and feedback submissions.
Default statuses
Pendo includes default statuses for both ideas and feedback to help you get started. The maximum number of statuses available to an idea or feedback item is 14. By default:
- Ideas have six statuses.
- Feedback has three statuses.
You can edit or remove these as needed to reflect your internal workflows.
When a new idea or feedback item is created, it's assigned the New status, or its equivalent in your workflow. We recommend keeping a starting status so that all incoming submissions have a consistent entry point.
View and manage statuses
To view a status:
- Go to Listen > Listen settings.
- Select the Statuses tab.
- Use the toggle at the top of the page to switch between Ideas and Feedback.
- Review the list of existing statuses. Each status includes a name, color, and ordering. For example, the default status names and colors for feedback are:
Create or modify a status
To create a new status, or update an existing one:
- Select Create status, or if you're editing an existing status, select Edit
to open the status modal.
- In the Name field, enter the status name.
- Choose a color for the status label.
- Select Save. A message appears reminding you that these changes will appear on public Roadmaps and Idea Portals. To confirm your changes, select Save status.
The new status appears in the list and is immediately available for labeling ideas and feedback.
Tip: Quickly reorder statuses by dragging and dropping them in the table view.
Delete a status
If you want to delete a status for either ideas or feedback:
- Hover over the status you wish to remove, and select Delete
.
- A message appears warning you that by deleting this status, all items currently assigned to this status will need to move to another status. Select a replacement status from the dropdown menu.
- Select Confirm deletion & reassign.
Note: Changes to status labels apply across the subscription and will impact how items appear to internal users and customers. It may take time for the changes to apply across the platform.
