Connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo

Connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo to access all available Microsoft Teams integrations from a single tile in the integrations page. This article covers how Pendo subscription admins, along with Teams Administrators, can set up the Pendo integration with Microsoft Teams.

Once connected, users can access Pendo data directly from Microsoft Teams and receive automated notifications from Pendo in Microsoft Teams channels.

Prerequisites

To connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo, you must have:

• Admin permissions in Pendo.
• The Teams Administrator role for your Microsoft tenant.

Any user in your Microsoft tenant can authorize the connection in Step 1 — it only requests basic sign-in information (the openid scope) to identify your tenant. A Teams Administrator is required to install the Pendo app in Microsoft Teams in Step 2.

Step 1. Connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo

There are two ways to connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo. Your selection depends on your organization's permission requirements:

• Enable all: Connects all integrations using a single set of permissions. Any new Microsoft Teams integrations added in the future are available automatically.
• Enable individually: Each integration uses its own minimum set of permissions. Use this option if your organization restricts the permissions granted to third-party apps. New integrations require manual setup when added.

Note: Private channel support depends on the integration. Sending Pendo data out to Microsoft Teams (Share signals, Agent Analytics digests, Listen feedback, and survey responses) supports public channels only. Ask Pendo in Microsoft Teams, data-rich link previews, and sending Microsoft Teams messages to Listen also work in private channels.

To connect Microsoft Teams to Pendo using Enable all:

1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
2. Select the Microsoft Teams tile.
3. Select Enable all. This opens a new window showing the permissions required to connect Pendo to Microsoft Teams.

4. Sign in with your Microsoft account and grant consent for the Pendo app.

   Important: You can only connect one Microsoft Teams tenant to a Pendo subscription.

5. Review the permissions, then select Allow.

To enable each integration individually:

1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
2. Select the Microsoft Teams tile.
3. Select the toggle for the integration you want to enable. This opens a new window showing the permissions required for that integration.
4. Sign in with your Microsoft account and select Allow.

After connecting, the following integrations are available in the tile:

• Ask Pendo in Microsoft Teams. Ask the Pendo agent questions about your product data from any channel, group chat, or direct message in Microsoft Teams. Requires Leo to be enabled on your subscription.
• Send Agent Analytics digests to Microsoft Teams. Automatically send a daily, weekly, or monthly digest of AI agent performance metrics to a Microsoft Teams channel. Requires Agent Analytics.
• Send survey responses to Microsoft Teams. Route new CSAT, PMF, UX-Lite, and NPS survey responses to Microsoft Teams channels, filtered by sentiment. Requires Sentiment.
• Send Listen feedback to Microsoft Teams. Receive updates in a Microsoft Teams channel when a visitor submits feedback through a Listen feedback source. Requires Listen.
• Share data-rich previews in Microsoft Teams. Displays previews of Pendo links shared in Microsoft Teams.

Step 2. Install the Pendo app in Microsoft Teams

Before your team can use features like Ask Pendo in Microsoft Teams, a Teams Administrator must install the Pendo app from the Microsoft Teams marketplace.

1. In Microsoft Teams, go to Apps in the left navigation.
2. Search for Pendo.
3. Select the Pendo app and select Add to install it for your organization.

Once installed, team members can add the Pendo bot to any channel, group chat, or direct message by typing @Pendo in the message compose box and selecting the Pendo app from the suggestions list. The bot sends a welcome message to all channel members automatically when it joins.

Note: Microsoft Teams does not support ephemeral messages. When the Pendo bot needs to authenticate a user's account, it sends the authentication prompt as a direct message (DM) rather than posting in the channel.

Step 3. Manage your Microsoft Teams connection

If you connected Microsoft Teams using Enable all, individual integration toggles are locked. To manage integrations independently, select Manage Features in the tile header.

To manage integrations independently:

1. In Pendo, go to Settings > Integrations.
2. Select the Microsoft Teams tile.
3. Select Manage Features. This unlocks the individual toggles so you can turn each integration on or off.
4. Select the toggle for each integration to enable or disable it.

To disconnect Microsoft Teams from Pendo entirely, select Disconnect in the tile. This removes the authentication and disconnects Microsoft Teams from your Pendo subscription. All Microsoft Teams integrations stop immediately.
